Development efforts in Egypt have led to an imbalance among the different governorates and the emergence of disparities between them. As a result, the capacities of some governorates have been undermined, leading to their relative lag compared to others. This is mainly due to the neglect of the spatial dimension when formulating development plans, as they were based on a sectoral approach, which resulted in the concentration of activities and population in a limited number of more advanced governorates. |
