The study examines the potentials and future prospects for economic integration among the Arab Cooperation Council countries in light of their production and distribution structures. It begins by presenting an overview of the economies of these countries and analyzing their production structures, highlighting the degree of dependence on key sectors, particularly oil and primary resources, while identifying similarities and differences in the productive base of the member states and their implications for economic integration. The study then analyzes distribution and trade structures, including patterns of foreign trade, the directions of exports and imports, the extent of reliance on external markets, and the volume of intra-regional trade among the concerned countries, while assessing the degree of complementarity or competition among their economic structures. Based on this analysis, the study explores the potential for economic integration through utilizing relative differences in resources and productive capacities, promoting specialization and division of labor among the countries, and enhancing cooperation in investment, industrial development, and trade. It also discusses the challenges that may hinder the realization of such integration, including similarities in production structures, limited intra-regional trade, and heavy reliance on oil revenues. The study concludes that achieving effective economic integration among these countries requires greater coordination of economic policies, diversification of the productive base, and expansion of joint investment and cooperation, in order to support more sustainable economic development and strengthen the competitiveness of Arab economies in the face of global economic changes. |
