This paper examines the policies and mechanisms for linking scientific research and innovation institutions with industry in order to deepen local industrialization, with the aim of presenting policies for decision-makers. From this standpoint, the paper dealt with the challenges of linking scientific research and innovation institutions with industry through some indicators and interviews of researchers and a visit to the Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute (CMRDI), in addition to studying some international experiences in linking scientific research institutions with industry, and the initiatives of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology for the same purpose. The paper included a case study of the alliance of metallurgical industries in the CMRDI as an example of the linking mechanisms. Some policies and mechanisms are proposed to link scientific research and innovation institutions with the industrial sector.
