The Institute of National Planning (INP) adopts, as a national institute of expertise and as a think-tank for all state agencies and institutions in general and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in particular, issuing this series as a scientific and practical initiative aimed at studying the effects and potential consequences of the Coronavirus COVID-19 on the Egyptian economy, by analyzing the different dimensions of that global pandemic, discussing and assessing the possible impacts of this global health crisis on Egypt, and proposing alternatives to different policies, based on possible scenarios in specific time periods, in order to support policy makers and decision takers. The international health crisis revealed the fragility of the global economic system, which requires a review of the roles of international organizations and institutions, the various international blocs, and issues of financing development and their priorities. It has become clear that the matter has become a matter of fate and existence, and therefore self-reliance is unavoidable in meeting fundamental needs to people, which means a reordering of priorities, hence the need to reformulate strategies and policies in proportion to what the new reality imposed.
