خلال الفترة الماضية تدهورت منظومة القطن المصري، لعدة أسباب بدأت بتخلي الدولة عنه في إطار تحرير زراعته، وتجارته، مما كان له تداعيات بالغة، فتدهورت اوضاعه، زراعةً وتصنيعاً، وتجارةً، محلياً وعالمياً، حيث تناقصت مساحته حتى بلغت أدناها في عام 2016م، مسجلة نحو (131.8) ألف فدان فقط، مقابل نحو (1.8) مليون فدان كمتوسط لفترة الخمسينيات |
